I’m totally obsessed with the process of baby naming. OBSESSED. I want to know exactly how people came up with their baby’s name, what names they eliminated in the process, middle name, all of it.

For example: Jason is the oldest child in his family of three yet it is his younger brother who was named after their father. Additionally, both he and his brother share a middle name. And his sister doesn’t have a middle name at all. I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS FOR MY MOTHER IN LAW ABOUT IT.

Three day old Patrick’s face totally sums up my feelings about today.

P.S. The hospital photographer just sent us a disc of pictures and they are all horribly unflattering yet totally melting my heart at the same time. Poor dude is cross eyed in the majority of them and I look like I just had a c-section and haven’t been able to properly care for my self in three days.

After being exposed to only an infant and my husband for the greater part of 12 weeks it was easy to forget that assholes aren’t just found on the internet. Like, the exist in real life too. Thanks for the reminder, everyone in Midtown! Congratulations on being The Worst. I can’t wait to deal with you and your umbrellas soon.
The line at my juice lady seemed really, really long this morning. I guess I’m happy that she’s got business but NOOOOOOOOOOO! I bet you $5 she’s out of veggies when I go down there in an hour for a green juice. Ugh.
My god the bagels from my favorite deli are delicious.
My god the iced coffee from my favorite coffee cart is delicious.
Day two of our new routine and I was only 45 minutes late getting into the office. That’s a slight improvement from yesterday’s hour. We’ll get there. Right?

Everyone, every single person, should have access healthcare. Period. The end.
Unfortunately, having health insurance does not mean that people take care of themselves or are proactive about their health. How many people out there with health insurance (that would cover such testing) have never had an STD screening or HIV test? A lot. And I mean A LOT. How many people have dental insurance and haven’t been to a dentist in a super long time? See previous answer. This needs to change.
You only have one body and one life. Take care of yourself, take care of each other.

Last night, at only 33 weeks pregnant and after 11 days of hospitalized bed rest, my sister gave birth to a little boy. Baby Sawyer came into the world screaming, weighing in at 5 lbs, 1 oz and is 17.5 in long.

The best part (besides the whole healthy baby and healthy mama thing): With the help and support of her incredible midwife, my sister was able to have the all-natural VBAC delivery that she’d previously been told (by two different doctors) probably wouldn’t happen due to the high risk nature of her pregnancy.

My sister is my hero - a total rock star and one of the strongest women I know - and my nephew is perfect. I can’t wait to watch our boys grow up together.

Happy birthday (+1 day), Sawyer! We love you very much and are so excited to meet you. In the meantime, please continue to get big and strong. You are the greatest gift. All of my love, baby boy.

yeay for chewbeads. I take it you weren’t really wearing them so much as just letting them hang around though? Any thoughts on em? I thought they would make great baby shower gifts,but love to hear from you. :) Adorbs as always P.

Yes, those are Chewbeads! I got them as a shower gift and Patrick loves them. Because the color is so vivid I first used them to help him focus and learn how to track. I just hung them over the change table part of his pack ‘n’ play and he would stare away at them. Now I put them in front of him on the mat during Tummy time to help him distract him from how frustrated he was. I don’t know if I’ll actually wear them (the length isn’t very flattering on my bust) but I will most certainly let him gnaw on them all he wants.

This is a Patrick approved baby shower gift.

New milestone alert: Someone just focused in on those green beads (which had previously been dangling off the little ledge), grabbed them, pulled them down, and is now chewing in them.
