We Voted

This morning, hand in hand, Jason and I walked the few blocks to our polling site, we waited in line, we smiled at our neighbors waiting line with us, we cast our votes, we thanked the volunteers, and then we walked to get coffee.

Somewhere between PS 102 and Dunkin’ Donuts I started crying.

It’s no secret that pregnancy has made me extra emotional and today’s tears were 100% because of Baby. I want to do everything I can to make this country as safe and as accepting (even if only by law as we can’t force the hearts and minds of strangers) as possible for this kid.  That was what I voted for today. That is what we voted for today.

I’m excited to tell Baby about our first time together in the voting booth (and to continue this tradition for many elections to come).
